01
The Marketing Plan Is You.
I've always believed that the most important part of a small business's marketing isn't the software.
It's you.
Your experience. Your story. Your reputation. Your relationships. The people you know. The people who know you. The customers you've helped. The people who are willing to refer you. The community you build.
That's your marketing.
The marketing plan is you.
Technology can help you reach more people. AI can help you work faster. Automation can help you follow up. A CRM can help you stay organized. Funnels can help you capture leads.
But none of those things replace relationships.
They amplify them.
02
From Marketing to Insurance to Mortgages.
I've spent about 15 years as a marketing consultant, helping businesses figure out how to get customers, market themselves, build better systems, and grow.
Then COVID hit. AI was changing the landscape too, and the marketing and technology path I'd been on changed.
I pivoted into insurance brokerage — life, health, property, and casualty. Later, I became a mortgage loan officer.
Those experiences gave me another perspective: people, money, risk, regulation, sales, service, and what it actually takes to help a client move forward.
03
Then I Realized What I Really Missed.
I missed helping business owners grow.
I love that part. When a client gets a win, I'm excited too. And when the businesses I help grow, my business grows with them.
I've spent years learning how business works when technology, marketing, finance, regulation, sales, systems, and people all have to fit together.
That is the space Network & Grow is built to serve.
04
Take Care of the Pennies.
Small business owners can work incredibly hard and still lose ground because the little things aren't being tracked, followed up, or organized.
Cash flow. Expenses. Leads. Follow-up. Customer relationships. Time.
Take care of the pennies — because the pennies add up.
05
I Use My Systems to Sell My Systems.
I'm not interested in telling you to use a bunch of tools that I don't personally use.
If I'm asking you to use it, I'm using it too.
That's one of the reasons Network & Grow is being built the way it is. I'm building the systems for my own business first. Then I'm making them available to other business owners.
The funnel builder. The CRM. The automation. The AI tools. The marketing systems. The receptionist. The communities. The business processes.
I'm building a business with the same systems I'm asking you to use.
06
I'm Starting From Scratch — But I'm Not Starting From Zero.
Network & Grow is being built from scratch.
But I'm bringing years of experience with me.
I've spent about 15 years as a marketing consultant, helping businesses figure out how to get customers, market themselves, build better systems, and grow.
I've also spent years working with technology, businesses, clients, financial products, insurance, mortgages, sales, and growth.
So while Network & Grow is something I'm building from the ground up, I'm not learning how to build a business from the ground up.
I'm bringing everything I've learned along the way with me.
The successes. The mistakes. The things that worked. The things that didn't.
07
I'm Still Afraid.
Even with all those years of experience, I'm still a little afraid of failing.
Experience doesn't make you fearless. It just gives you more experience knowing that things don't always go according to plan.
I know what it's like to build things. I know what it's like to succeed. I know what it's like to have things not work.
And I'm still a little afraid that Network & Grow might not become what I believe it can become.
But I've realized something.
I'm more afraid of regret.
I don't want to leave this earth knowing I never tried. Or knowing I didn't give it my best.
I can live with failure. What I don't want to live with is knowing I never gave myself the chance to succeed.
08
Networking Comes First.
At the heart of Network & Grow is something much older than AI.
People. Connections. Relationships. Opportunities.
A referral from somebody you met. A conversation that leads to a partnership. A business owner who tells you how they solved a problem. A customer who introduces you to somebody else. A group of people who share an interest. A specialist who can do something you don't have the time or expertise to do.
That's networking.
Networking comes first. Everything else supports it.
The technology is important. The tools are important. The AI is important. But they're not the point.
People are the point.
09
You Don't Have to Do It All Yourself.
I've been outsourcing and leveraging other people's expertise for years.
I'm going to teach you how I do it. Not because outsourcing is some secret trick. It's because successful businesses have always leveraged other people's time, knowledge, and expertise.
You don't have to personally do every job in your company.
You need to build a company where the right things get done.
10
I'm Building This in Public.
I'm excited about what Network & Grow can become. But I'm also a little afraid.
There are going to be things I don't know yet. Decisions I'm going to question. Things that don't work. And probably a few things I completely screw up along the way.
And honestly?
I don't particularly want to do all of it. But I do want the result.
I don't want to spend my life building software. I don't want to do every bookkeeping task. I don't want to learn every new technology that comes along. I don't want to personally do every job required to make this business work.
But I do want to build a business that helps people. I want to build a network where people actually help each other grow. And I want to build something that gives people more time.
So I'm going to document the process. The good decisions. The bad ones. The people I hire. The systems I build. The things I learn. The things that don't work. The wins. And the setbacks.
Partly because I think other business owners can learn from it.
But there's another reason.
It holds me accountable.
11
Something Bigger Than Me.
I've lived more of my life than I have left to live.
That's not something I'm afraid to say. If anything, it gives me a little more urgency.
At this point in my life, I don't just want to build something that makes money.
I want to build something that matters.
Something that helps people. Something that creates opportunities. Something that connects people who might otherwise never meet. Something that gives people access to resources they might not otherwise be able to afford.
And eventually, something that can continue helping people even when I'm no longer here to run it.
I want to build something that's still here when I'm gone.
12
Learn. Implement. Educate.
One of the things I believe strongly is:
Learn. Implement. Educate.
Don't just learn something and put it on a shelf. Use it. See whether it actually works. Then teach somebody else.
That's how I want Network & Grow to work.
I'll learn something. I'll implement it in my own business. I'll figure out what works and what doesn't. Then I'll share it.
Each one can teach one.
